Кафедра геометрии Казанского университета с глубоким прискорбием сообщает, что сегодня, 25 октября, скончался известный казанский геометр, Заслуженный деятель науки РТ, Заслуженный работник высшей школы РФ, профессор кафедры общей математики Владимир Владимирович Вишневский.

Гражданская панихида состоится в субботу, 27 октября, в 11.00 в Мраморном зале 2 корпуса КГУ.

V. F. Kirichenko was born on May 11, 1947 in Magadan region of Russia.

In 1972 he graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Moscow State University (MSU).

In 1975 he finished his graduate studies in the Department of Differential Geometry of MSU. In 1976 he defended his Ph. D. thesis entitled New Results in the Theory of K-Spaces, in which he obtained a series of deep results on the geometry of one of the most interesting classes of Hermitian manifolds.

After graduation he became an Assistant Professor of the Department of Special Mathematical Courses of Moscow Power Institute. In 1980 he was promoted to Associate Professor, and in 1987 to Professor of the same department. Since 1990 Kirichenko is Professor of the Geometry Department of the Moscow State Pedagogical University. In 1999 he became the chairperson of this department.

The circle of scientific interests of Kirichenko is in differential geometry and its applications. In 1985 he defended the doctoral dissertation entitled Differential Geometry of Generalized Hermitian Manifolds. In this work he demonstrated a possibility to study from the same point of view different differential-geometric structures such as almost Hermitian structures, almost contact structures, almost quaternion structures, f-structures of Kentaro Yano, and their hyperbolic analogues.

He developed a new apparatus for investigation of almost Hermitian structures and applying it obtained many results published in prestigious Russian and foreign mathematical journals as well as in his monograph Differential-Geometric Structures on a Manifold (Moscow, 2003). These results were reported in the series of international conferences including the 4th International Congress of Mathematicians (Zurich, 1994) and the 2nd European Mathematical Congress (Budapest, 1996).

Kirichenko was a supervisor of many Ph. D. students. Up to now, 26 his students defended their Ph. D. theses.

17 апреля на 79-м году жизни скончался профессор Николай Александрович Черников, главный научный сотрудник лаборатории теоретической физики им. Н. Н. Боголюбова Объединенного института ядерных исследований (Дубна), автор классических работ в области физики и прикладной геометрии.

В лице Н. А. Черникова российская наука понесла тяжелую, невосполнимую потерю. Широко известны работы профессора Н. А. Черникова, содержащие формулировки кинетических уравнений Больцмана в специальной и общей теории относительности, результаты, касающиеся термодинамического равновесия в гравитационных полях и установления тесной связи между термодинамическим равновесием и симметриями пространства, вывод конформно инвариантных уравнений для скалярного поля, пионерские работы Николая Александровича по квантованию скалярного поля в пространстве Де Ситтера, его исследования единых теорий поля, развитие идей фоновой аффинной связности и др.

Полученные Н. А. Черниковым изящные результаты, относящиеся к приложениям геометрии Лобачевского к расчету ядерных реакций, и многолетняя пропаганда тесной связи между релятивистской физикой и геометрией Лобачевского заслуживают самого глубокого уважения и восхищения. Долгие годы тесного и плодотворного научного сотрудничества связывали Николая Александровича Черникова с физиками и геометрами Казани. Мы всегда помним и высоко оцениваем его вклад в становление и развитие казанской гравитационной школы, основанной в 1960 г. профессором кафедры геометрии Казанского университета А. З. Петровым (впоследствии академиком АН Украинской ССР), помощь Н. А. Черникова в организации лаборатории гравитационно-волновой астрономии при кафедре теории относительности и гравитации.

Н. А. Черников неоднократно был оппонентом на защите докторских и кандидатских диссертаций сотрудниками кафедры. Благодаря Н. А. Черникову в Казани возникло и успешно развивается научное направление, связанное с исследованиями в области релятивистской кинетической теории и релятивистской статистической физики.

Коллектив кафедры теории относительности и гравитации Казанского университета, казанская геометрическая школа выражают глубокие соболезнования и сожаления по поводу безвременной кончины замечательного ученого и педагога Николая Александровича Черникова. Светлая ему память!

Boris Nikitovich Shapukov (1937—2007)

 13 февраля 2007 г. на 70-м году жизни скончался заведующий кафедрой геометрии Казанского государственного университета профессор Борис Никитович Шапуков.

Boris Nikitovich Shapukov was born in Elabuga, Russia. After graduating from secondary school in 1954, Boris N. Shapukov entered mathematical department of Physical and Mathematical Faculty of Kazan State University. Already in his student years he showed himself a talented scientific researcher, and professor Boris L. Laptev proposed B. N. Shapukov to be his postgraduate student. Under supervision of B. L. Laptev, in 1964 B. N. Shapukov defended his thesis “On geometry of bilinear metric spaces”, where he studied geometry of affinely connected spaces admitting covariant constant fields of non-symmetric tensors of type (2,0).

After his defense, developing B L. Laptev’s ideas concerning the theory of “supporting elements”, B. N. Shapukov starts to study geometry of general fibered spaces. In his works, B. N. Shapukov develops theory of linear connections and Lie differentiation on the total spaces of smooth fiber bundles. In 1991 B. N. Shapukov defended doctoral thesis “Structures on fiber bundles and reduction”.

In 1961 B.N. Shapukov was appointed an assistant of the chair of geometry of Kazan State University, in 1996 he became an assistant professor, and in 1992 a professor of the chair of geometry. Generations of students remember his expressive lectures on differential geometry, Lie groups, geometry of fibered spaces, and non-Euclidean geometry.

B. N. Shapukov wrote more than thirty scientific papers, and many tutorials for students, among then “Tasks on Lie group theory and its applications” (the first edition was published in 1989 by Kazan University, and the second extended edition in 2002 by “Regular and Chaotic Dynamics”) which was translated into Spanish. He had 7 pupils who studied various topics of geometry of fibered spaces.

In 1993 B.N.Shapukov became the head of the chair of geometry. Nineties were rather difficult for Russian science, however at that times B. N. Shapukov organized several international geometrical conferences in Kazan, under his direction “Proceedings of Geometrical Seminar” were published, he also was the head of scientific group supported by the Russian government grant program “Russian Leading Scientific Schools”.

For many years B. N. Shapukov was the Head of International Jury on Lobachevskii Medal awarding, and put many efforts in organizing the work of the jury, as well as international geometrical seminars devoted to this event.

Summing up, we may state that Boris Nikitovich Shapukov made outstanding contribution to the development of differential geometry as well as to the organizing of life of mathematical society.
